Description
Public health is a multidisciplinary field purposed toward improving the health and well-being of communities. From food to transportation to healthcare delivery, public health demonstrates the interconnectedness of seemingly separate social domains and how change can catalyze both intended and unintended consequences. An ongoing challenge in public health is how to effectively apply findings from various levels of research into everyday society in ways that address core problems, giving rise to the burgeoning field of translational research. Further incumbent upon those campaigning for change ensures fairness and justice in how assessments of problems are made and how plans are formulated and implemented. Although certainly not all-encompassing, this chapter imparts a toolkit for appraising outstanding concerns, developing relevant partnerships, and together synthesizing a clear vision of actions to be undertaken.
