Abstract
A 42 y.o. male with a history of opioid dependence and crack cocaine use presented with polytrauma secondary to falling down a flight of stairs. CT findings were significant for a right midshaft humerus fracture, right L2-L4 fractures, and a right psoas hematoma with active bleeding. Following successful L3 artery embolization the active bleed and ORIF of humerus fracture, patient was placed on a multimodal pain regimen. Due to the severity of pain, patient was treated with non-pharmacologic therapies combined with opioids. We will discuss the pain management of a patient with a history of chronic recreational drug use.
