Abstract
This case discusses a 53 yo female who presented for hip surgery. She had a known history of difficult intubation with three documented intubations in her chart; including a flexible broncoscopic insertion over an iGEL LMA for an occiput-T2 fusion. This further limited her already difficult airway. After a preoperative evaluation, the decision was made to proceed with an asleep fiberoptic intubation. This required the help of a second anesthesiologist and a total of 7+ attempts at intubation. This case will discuss the difficult airway algorithm, proper equipment for a known difficult airway, and difficult airway techniques.
