Abstract
A 63-year-old female with a history of pulmonary HTN was admitted for elective femoral endarterectomy. Upon induction, patient became hypoxic and hypotensive requiring vasopressors. TEE performed in the OR showed an extremely dilated right ventricle. She went into cardiac arrest requiring chest compressions with ROSC after 2 minutes. The procedure was cancelled and patient was admitted to the cardiac ICU. The patient was unable to be weaned from the ventilator and family decided to withdraw care after two weeks. We will discuss the approach to intubation, as well as complications that may arise following intubation in patients with pulmonary hypertension.
