Abstract
An 11-month-old male was admitted to the pediatric floor after a four-day stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where they were intubated and sedated for confluent COVID-19 and H. Influenza infections. On admission day five, he developed agitation, frequent groaning, diarrhea, mydriasis, and a new onset inability to sit up without support. He was diagnosed with acute opioid withdrawal from the sedation in the PICU and started on a morphine taper. Following the taper, he remained symptom-free for 24 hours, finished his antibiotic, antiviral, and steroid courses, and was discharged on hospital day 12.
