Abstract

This is a 44 F with a PMH of G6PD who presents after she underwent D&C for an endometrial polyp at an outside hospital complaining of abdominal pain and shortness of breath. She was found to have a severe uterine perforation causing her to exsanguinate, leading to multiple rounds of CPR and massive amounts of blood product. This case will discuss the basics of massive transfusion, anemias in relation to transfusion, and the ethical quandary of pouring scarce resources into patients when we know that care is futile.
