Abstract
This is a 32yo with congenital aortic stenosis s/p Ross procedure with a bioprosthetic valve that presented for redo aortic valve replacement & root enlargement after progressively worsening dyspnea. Following uneventful surgery and recovery, she arrested just prior to discharge. CPR, bedside thoracotomy and cardiac massage were attempted, and she was ultimately placed on VA ECMO. This presentation will discuss the different types of ECMO, when it is indicated, and when care is ultimately futile.
