Abstract
Rash in pregnancy can be common, although usually benign and self-limiting. Pustular psoriasis is a rare, severe dermatosis characterized by a desquamating rash of erythematous plaques with pustules surrounding the periphery. Primarily affecting pregnant patients in the third trimester, this disease can lead to fatal complications of both the fetus and mother without treatment, causing systemic manifestations in the mother and placental insufficiency for the fetus. Cases of uteroplacental insufficiency have been discussed resulting in fetal growth restriction and IUFD. Due to the rarity of the condition, there is no known etiology or inciting factor as to why pregnancy triggers this disease or the etiology of placental insufficiency. Corticosteroids, cyclosporin, infliximab, and delivery are utilized as treatments, though the ideal treatment regimen has yet to be determined.
