Abstract
It is with great sadness but also with honor we write in memory of our dear friend and colleague David E. Haines, MD. David passed away suddenly on February 10, 2024. He was a dear friend and colleague of the Heart Rhythm Society and electrophysiologists around the world. David’s many scholarly contributions focused on ablation energy sources, starting in 1986 when he was at the University of Virginia (UVA) and radiofrequency ablation was being introduced. In this manner, David ushered in many ablation technologies and quickly became an icon for ablation trials, both preclinical and clinical, and taught us about best practices. However, more impactful, David became a mentor for seasoned electrophysiologists as well as those newly starting in the field
