Abstract
Since the first-in-human transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) was performed by Professor Alain Cribier on April 16, 2002, TAVR has transformed the treatment of aortic stenosis, surpassing the number of surgical aortic valve replacements. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of TAVR, we describe the first successful TAVR in North America, which was performed at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, on March 10, 2005.
