Abstract

A 19 year old female with a history of depression and asthma underwent an urgent cesarean delivery complicated by pre-eclampsia. Although she received IV Magnesium for 24 hours afterwards, the patient on POD 3 demonstrated a witnessed tonic-clonic seizure. After initiating pharmacologic therapy, she was transported to the labor and delivery floor for intensive monitoring, where she had a second tonic-clonic seizure requiring intubation and ICU admission. This case will explore the presentation and management of postpartum eclampsia, as well as highlight the importance of communication and role delegation among various providers while managing acutely unstable patients.
