Abstract
It is not uncommon for both residents and attendings to encounter emotionally and physically stressful situations during the perioperative period; including intraoperative resuscitation and deaths. In this particular case, a 47 y/o male underwent surgery for a left parietal meningioma. Unfortunately, the surgical team encountered bleeding very early into the case which was subsequently very difficult to control throughout the surgery. Shortly after, the patient coded and resuscitation efforts were initiated in accordance to ACLS guidelines. This presentation will focus on the importance of postoperative debriefing and physician mental wellness when encountering stressful events in the perioperative period.
