Abstract
Joint surgeries have some of the highest reported success rates in the surgical field, with success defined as an intended outcome achieved surgically. The use of Real-Time Interactive Worldwide Intelligence (RIWI), a commercial survey provider, has resulted in a novel wide-scale approach to collecting patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Despite the high reported success rate of joint procedures, this survey revealed a significant number of joint surgery patients chronically dependent on analgesics post-operatively. This survey emphasizes the disconnect between the surgical and patient experience. Ultimately, PROs may help to improve the general standard of joint surgery results and focus efforts towards patient-centered care
