Abstract
A 25-year old G1P0 at 38 weeks gestational age with no PMH presented to the L&D unit in labor. CSE was performed with placement of a Perifix 20-gauge polyamide epidural catheter. The procedure was uncomplicated and the patient had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. Upon removal of the catheter, it was noted that the tip was missing. The patient had no pain or neurologic symptoms, and MRI spine was negative for foreign objects. She was discharged home in two days with scheduled follow-up. In this presentation we will discuss the various considerations and management of a retained epidural catheter tip.
