Abstract
The percentage of female medical students has increased over the last few decades, and the proportion of female anesthesiology residents has risen as well. For most female trainees, residency coincides with peak fertility and childbearing years. We present a time a pregnant resident was accidentally assigned a room with near constant fluoroscopy radiation exposure and discuss the challenges encountered and risks taken by the pregnant anesthesia resident. We also suggest resident program policy that can help support pregnant trainees during the first three trimesters and beyond.
