Abstract
This case describes a 39-year-old female with a past medical history of depression, anxiety, and tobacco use, with COVID pneumonia and worsening respiratory status who then required intubation on 1/4/22. She was subsequently proned and paralyzed, and transferred to Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak for ECMO consideration. She was cannulated for VV ECMO on 1/11/22 due to failed advanced ventilatory management. This case study will discuss the incidence of COVID pneumonia requiring ECMO, the challenges with ECMO consideration in young patients, and the complications involved with advanced life support measures.
