Abstract

We congratulate Bahr et al for developing a nomogram derived from almost 400 000 total serum bilirubin (TSB) levels from newborns in the Intermountain Healthcare system in Utah. 1 We caution readers, however, that the nomogram neither represents the normal range nor the natural history of neonatal TSB levels and should not be used for phototherapy treatment decisions.
