Abstract
When thinking about syncope, two important broad categories include neurologic and cardiac causes. Seizures often are described initially as syncope by patients and bystanders, especially in patients without a known history of epilepsy. Cardiac causes of syncope are numerous, but arrythmias are frequently at fault. Less commonly, both neurologic and cardiac factors can contribute simultaneously, such as in this patient, who suffered a transient complete heart block in the context of newly diagnosed temporal lobe epilepsy.
