Sugammadex Availability and Usage Patterns

Abstract
At Beaumont Hospital, Sugammadex recently became available in individual provider drug boxes. We investigated the concern for increased utilization by performing a retrospective chart review of patients receiving Sugammadex prior to the addition into drug boxes in November 2019. From December 2020 to September 2020 incidences of Sugammadex administration were recorded and utilization rates were determined from 100 patient samples every 3 months. Rates of Sugammadex being given appropriately were 87% in November 2019, 87% for March, 87% for June, and 92% for September 2020. It would appear, that despite increased access, Sugammadex continues to be administered appropriately by providers.
