Abstract
Parents of children with complex respiratory needs often face challenging decisions regarding pursuing a tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation and their implications for care. Adequate training and preparation pre- and post-tracheostomy are crucial for ensuring parental understanding and confidence in navigating these choices. This project, led by palliative medicine, aims to enhance informed consent and decision-making for both families considering tracheostomy and empower parents with the skills and knowledge necessary for care at home, fostering greater confidence in their decisions.
