Abstract
Physical trauma is the leading cause of death for children in the United States. Many hospitals, and emergency departments, have limited experience caring for pediatric patients. This can lead to hesitancy, challenges, delays, and overall poor outcomes for pediatric patients who can possibly arrive to any hospital or emergency department as a trauma. While there is literature speaking to the efficacy of simulations in healthcare, there is limited data on the use of such scenarios specific to pediatric trauma outside of children's hospitals. Our overall goal was to increase pediatric readiness, identify barriers and equipment needs, and increase staff comfort in regional hospitals. This was a collaborative study between HDVCH Simulation Team and Pediatric Trauma Team. This was the first mobile simulation implemented by this team to specifically improve the care of a pediatric trauma.
