Abstract
Adenomyosis is a disease in which endometrial glands infiltrate the uterine myometrium. It can lead to different symptoms including dysmenorrhea, abnormal uterine bleeding, and infertility. The gold standard for diagnosis is upon pathologic evaluation following hysterectomy. With the advancement of imaging modalities including ultrasound and MRI, imaging is being used to diagnose adenomyosis rather than surgery. However, very few studies have compared the diagnosis of adenomyosis by pathology in the general population against the diagnosis by imaging. The aim of this study is to evaluate the equivalency of modern ultrasound as a tool for diagnosis as compared to pathologic review.
