Abstract
DOACs have a risk of bleeding, and the increased number of patients treated with anticoagulants means that a higher number of patients are at risk and anticoagulants have been responsible for more visits to emergency rooms than any class of medication. Multiple studies have reported on how AI is being incorporated for the safe use of DOACs. One study was designed to decern if AI could improve patient's adherence to their DOAC medication, the results found the program increased patient adherence by 50%. The Veterans Administration (VA) recently published a study examining the use of a population management dashboard to manage safe use of DOACs. Corewell Health West has been utilizing a DOAC dashboard within their cardiology services but would like to expand it into primary care to determine if they are receiving the correct dose or if there are interactions with their other medications.
