Abstract

Providing care for patients who cannot make their own decisions involves navigating complex legal and ethical frameworks. This case examines the challenges the health care team encountered when a patient's legal guardian sought to transition from aggressive care to comfort care only. Themes of moral distress, ethical principles, legal obligation, and practical bedside management are explored.
